Poster Comments
Thank-you to everyone who put in their two cents worth in the analysis of the movie poster for Liars and Lunatics.
Some of your comments were very useful in analyzing the posters… One thing we learned is that it is all so subjective. Some of you loved one version of the poster and hated another and vice versa. Have a look for yourselves at some of the comments:
Poster A :: 7% voter rating
“The poster invites me to want to see the movie… What did he not know?”
“I like the hair in his eyes. Suggests mystery.”
Poster B :: 43% voter rating
“i love the idea of the vertical piece of film with scene teasers, and the best one for me is poster b because the dark cast of her in the backround is intriguing.”
“He knew the truth but didn’t know her says it all.”
“Very attractive …suits the title.”
“All the posters looked great. But if I had to choose one, I think this one captures the eye the most.”
“I believe this poster has allure and could entice someone to check out the movie or video/dvd.”
Poster C :: 20% voter rating
“The candles (in this one and two others) evoked some emotion and drew me closer. The scene reel also added interest.”
“The Flame catches your eye and draws you into the poster to find out more. Offers hope visually. The others present human conflict, and my reaction is to walk away and not get involved. Subways are conflicting enough.”
“This poster is great because it leaves a bit to the imagination, yet it also shows a bit of what’s in store.”
Poster D :: 30% voter rating
“male/female suggest the drama….”
“I was driving myself luny in choosing. This one seems to capture a lot and is intriguing.”
“Good to have both main characters together. Like the film strip on side with other scenes. This one is better than the similar poster with the woman standing in the background. That confused the idea of what the story was really about (ie. another woman).”
“This is definitely the image that I would choose for the promotion of this film. It fills me with a sense of completeness regarding the story and who is involved because you’ve managed to contain imagery that is consistent with the caption.”
Hmm… Tough choice… We’ll probably do a little tweaking to the poster anyways. Who knows? Maybe we’ll come up with Poster E! (Probably not, though…)
