Gala Pix :: It’s 9:20 pm

It’s 9:20 pm :: The credits for Liars and Lunatics have finished rolling. The lights come up. It’s time to… mingle (again). It’s also time to talk photos and chat it up with cast and crew until the party’s over. Grab another glass of wine. Oh those truffles look pretty good…

P.S. Got some photos from the gala that you’d like to share with us? Send them over our way. We’ll see about adding some of your photos in a post next week…

Gala Pix :: It’s 7:40 pm

More pix from the Liars and Lunatics Gala. This time from the speeches…

It’s 7:40 pm and our MC, Steve Velichko, introduces Dustee Hullinger of Gifted Hands, the charity of the evening. He next recognizes the members of the cast and crew in attendance. And finally, introduces director Roberto Munoz who says a few words…

Finally, the lights dim for the moment we’ve all been waiting for… It’s time for the movie to begin…

P.S. More pix to come. The evening’s not over yet!

Hats Off to the Cast and Crew

Saturday was Mad Hatter Day. And in honor of this, we’ve put together a bunch of photos of, what else? People in the cast and crew of the feature film Liars and Lunatics… wearing so many different hats…

Fumbles in his beretHume plays backgammon

For some of us, it was all part of the costume.

{{ photo :: left - Fumbles (Myron Buchholz) getting ready for his big scene in the courtroom :: right – Hume (Bruce Nicholls) enjoys a game of backgammon in his party hat }}

For others, we had to wear the same hat…

And then there were the hats worn at the Costume Party.

Maria and KimBlaze

Some of us seemed to use our hats to help us concentrate.

And then there were the people on the set who used hats to conceal their identities.

Point Me in the Right Direction

The camera never lies… right?

Well, according to our production stills, apparently we did quite a bit of pointing during the film shoot for Liars and Lunatics. And we didn’t even realize it until we noticed a common thread in some of the photos.

Joseph Halsey as Super-Jay“Hey you! Don’t you mess with Super-Jay!”

That’s right, he can see through brick walls with his x-ray vision. Don’t let the Hawaiian lei fool you.

Or, maybe it’s just Joe Halsey, tired out and ready to go home at the end of Day 10.

Carson Grant as Dubious“Objection, your Honor!”

Prosecutor Dubious is at it again in the courtroom…

That’s his job. To object to everything and anything. And Carson Grant does quite a job in portraying this “bad guy”. Pointing fingers and all.

Michael Kricfalusi as the Bailiff“You there! Sit down, or else I’ll have to take you in…”

Michael Kricfalusi takes his position as Bailiff very seriously (although, that might be because he’s also the 1st AD on the film).

Thea pointing... What is she pointing at?And here she is!

The infamous one behind all the stills. Yep, Thea’s the one who caught all the pointing fingers in the first place. (Hmmm… if she’s in front of the camera, who’s taking the picture????)

Pointing on set in the courtroomYet another pointing finger…

Rumor has it that there are at least two Moon Brothers in this photograph. Maybe three.

There’ve even been reports that if you look carefully, you can see four of them. Or five, or six, depending on the source you talk to. But, then again, maybe not. We never listen to those rumors anyway…

Hair and Makeup…

Hair and makeup… Makeup and hair… What would we have done without them? Here are some photos of the good-looking people that populated the set of our feature film Liars and Lunatics.

“Here Fumbles. How about a little powder?”

There she is… The amazing Blaze. Our super-duper makeup and costume wizard!

Blaze Kelly Coyle helps Myron Buchholz (Fumbles) with some touchup before filming his scene.

Amanda Short as Avie“Looking Good!”

Amanda Short admires herself in the mirror as she waits for her next scene as Avie Malvideo.

Afro BoyDisco’s not dead…

At least not as long as this guy’s around.

One of the background actors strikes a pose on his way from wardrobe. We were filming the hospital hallway scenes… hence he’s wearing pajamas!

Allison Lane curls her hairAnother morning with the Curling Iron

Allison Lane curls those golden locks. Every morning, she arrived on set to get down to business… making sure her hair’s just right.

(Looks like that mirror needs to be shined up a bit.)

Amanda helping Bruce Nicholls with some powderA little powder for Bruce…

Thanks to Amanda (dressed up in her costume for Avie), Bruce Nicholls is looking good as Philosopher Hume.

His forehead must have been a little too shiny…

clowning aroundSend in the Clowns?

Is that really a clown helping out on the film crew?

Yes, believe it or not, it really is... One of our techies seems to be getting into the spirit of things for the costume party scenes.

Or, then again, maybe it’s just someone who likes to wear brightly colored wigs…

The Many Pix of the Ballerina

Looking over all our pix for our feature film Liars and Lunatics. We noticed that our stills photographer took scores of pictures of the ballerina figurine. In fact, the ballerina probably has had a total of more photos taken than any of our actors in the film!

We counted. And out of the 1,000+ pix, about 20% of them are of the ballerina! That’s right… 1 out of every 5 photos features the ballerina figurine.

Okay, so some of the photos are pretty much the same, taken at slightly different angles. Others turned out slightly blurry. But the fact remains that the ballerina was one popular photo magnet.

Take a look…

The ballerina The ballerina, another view

And just in case, you want to see yet another angle on the ballerina, here she is… again!

Our Background Actors

We had a great group of background actors work on this film… We needed to fill our courtroom with an audience. We required patients, nurses, and doctors to walk the halls of our mental asylum.

Here are just some of the faces that populate the world of the feature film Liars and Lunatics

The background actors find their seats in the courtroom.“Come On Down!”

In come the background actors to make our courtroom come alive. That’s our Second A.D. (Michael Kricfalusi — the big guy in the blue shirt) who’s ushering everyone in.

How many times did we have to reposition everyone before we had what we wanted?

Paige sits among the crowd.“Let’s Get this Last Shot”

Maya Serhan (Paige) is surrounded by a host of the background actors.

Wait a minute! Why is she so happy? This scene calls for Paige to look bored and uncomfortable…

“Writing their Masterpiece”

Our background actors often had to wait patiently for their next scene in the hospital hallways. And while they were waiting? They talked it up with their fellow background actors. And they were given paper and crayons to write…

It seemed that every time we had to film the asylum patients, they were supposed to be writing on pieces of paper with crayons (apparently pencils are too dangerous in an asylum).

But the question is, what were they writing? It’s anybody’s guess, but perhaps they were writing their grocery lists… or maybe they were working on their thesis… or could there be a Shakespeare among the group writing their next masterpiece?!

The background actors gather in the hallway.“Another Day at the Hospital”

The background actors prepare for another take in the hospital hallways. That’s right, they got their paper and crayons in hand…

Just waiting for the director to call “Action!”

“Wanted: Two patients and a nurse”

Our key costumer, Blaze Kelly Coyle, doubles as a nurse at Logous Psychiatric Hospital. She and two of our background actors walked up and down the front stairs at least ten times before we were happy with the take.

Say Cheese! :: Part Two

More of those behind-the-scenes photos from the Liars and Lunatics film shoot…

“Mother Parrot? What exactly are you doing?”

The looks of the people around Mother Parrot (played by Heidi Azaro) tell it all.

It’s probably that she just can’t wait to testify in her courtroom scene.

Either that, or she’s rehearsing for her next Broadway premiere.

“No, no, no… I’ve had enough coffee for the day.”

Dr. Donovin (played by Carson Grant) seems to have taken over Dr. Frolick’s office.

James probably won’t be too thrilled about that!

“Candy corn, anyone?”

Dressed up in her Hawaiian costume, she plays the gracious host…

As always the southern belle, Avie Malvideo (played by Amanda Short) gets ready for another of those action-filled parties.

“Wave to the nice camera, Davie!”

Asylum Patient Hume (played by Bruce Nicholls) helps out a catatonic Davie Malvideo (Hudson Chambers).

Rumor has it that they’re getting ready for a breakout!

“And standing in for Karen Lynn Gorney…”

You may see her arm and not even know that it belongs to…

Sharon Gruber—No, you probably won’t notice that it’s even her. But she did don that black robe as Karen Lynn Gorney’s double for the role of the Judge on the big courtroom day with all the background actors. (Hey, it’s not everyday that you get to be Karen Lynn Gorney!)

Say Cheese! :: Part One

We were going through our Liars and Lunatics photo archives in search of some good pix to submit with our application to the Toronto Film Festival. We came across these lively shots of our big happy film family…

“Look, Robert, it even works as an umbrella!”

Producer/Director Roberto Munoz and Production Designer Kim Wiley hide underneath the reflector on a day of drizzling rain.

“Is my ear in the shot?”

Patrick Mitchell (in the role of Staples) flashes a smile for the camera.

See that big grin? Nothing seems to bother Patrick…

“This is the last take, right?”

Maya Serhan (playing the role of Paige) and Joe Halsey (the role of James) on the final day of the film shoot.

Almost done…

Now, we can all go home and get some sleep!

“Just one more time, Allison.”

Allison Lane (playing Dr. Frolick) shows a little leg in between takes while coming down the stairs.

Besides having the dream of winning the Tour de France, it seems that Frolick is hoping to join the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular!

“Use the Force, Jake!”

Yep! That’s him…

Jake Forsyth, our ‘Camera Jedi’, trying to figure out the next camera angle.

At least, that’s why we think he came on the shoot. Maybe he’s just hiding out from the Sith?

There’s more pix to come…
