Just 100 Words

Do you know how hard it is to break a film’s story down into just 100 words? What to put into the synopsis? What to leave out?

But that’s what the film festivals want… your film in only 100 words.

Try it sometime with one of your favorite movies. Oh, sure, you maybe can boil it down to a one or two-sentence logline. But try writing about 100 words. You’ll probably go over the limit.

When we sat down to write a short synopsis for our upcoming indie film LIARS AND LUNATICS, we managed to come up with 171 words. That’s 71 words too many. Hmmm, now what do we cut…????

So Many Film Festivals

Working on submitting LIARS AND LUNATICS to some film festivals. Seems like it shouldn’t be that hard to do, but frankly, there are tons of sites to wade through… tons of information. Which ones?

We got the book “Chris Gore’s Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide.” It claims to have all “the secrets of Sundance, Cannes, Toronto, Telluride, Tribeca, SXSW, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and 100s more!” That’s quite a boast.

Guess it worked, because we actually bought the book…

And it really does do a pretty good job at breaking down all the festivals that are out there.

We did notice how ’film festival guru’ Chris Gore didn’t mention any of the ‘lunar’ Film Festivals… (Maybe he doesn’t have access to the secrets of the interstellar film festivals). Well, he does mention Moondance International Film Festival in Colorado… Hmmm… We might have to look into that one.

But we’re still working on the final cut of LIARS AND LUNATICS. It’s coming along…
